Here are some interesting facts on these "Painted Lady" butterflies...
- She can lay up to 500 eggs
- She may travel 1000 miles in her lifetime
- She breathes thru her abdomen
- She tastes with her feet
- She has 10000 eyes - okay - I'd really like to know how they know that one!
God created some pretty incredible creatures! I love the whole ugliness of the caterpillar and how they transform into such a beautiful thing! We're been reading "The Hungry Caterpillar" daily and watching the DVD - yes, I have a whole Eric Carle DVD!!!
I also heard a theory on the whole caterpillar/butterfly process used when talking about enabling. I found it quite interesting! Basically, butterflies get their strength in their wings to fly from the process of breaking out of the cocoon. If someone interferes with that process and helps them out, the butterfly will not be able to fly and will die. So....the next time you want to enable someone or know someone who does, go back to this story! Enabling does NOT help anyone!
